Hanoi, April 22, 2025 – Whalebone, a Czech technology company specializing in cybersecurity solutions for the telecommunications sector, public administration, and other areas of critical infrastructure, has signed a significant contract with the Vietnamese state-owned telecommunications provider VNPT. The signing was witnessed by governmental representatives from the Czech Republic and Vietnam.
The contract signing took place as part of an official business mission accompanying the Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic, Zbynek Stanjura, during his visit to Vietnam. The delegation was led by Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.
As part of the program, Whalebone CEO Richard Malovic participated in the ceremonial signing of a contract with a Vietnamese partner iService and telecommunications provider VNPT, underscoring the growing collaboration between the two countries in the field of digital security. Representatives of both the Czech and Vietnamese governments attended the signing ceremony, including the Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pham Tan Cong, and the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Finance.
"During a time of uncertainty caused by the current U.S. administration’s actions regarding customs policy toward the European Union, and thus also the Czech Republic, it is important for our economy to develop trade cooperation, including with Asian countries. It is a region with strong business potential, which is why the business delegation accompanying me on the trip to Vietnam, Japan, and Malaysia consists of companies operating in fields such as cybersecurity, robotics, aviation, and gastronomy," said Czech Finance Minister Zbynek Stanjura.
Expansion in Vietnam Reflects Whalebone’s Long-Term Global Growth Strategy
The partnership represents another step in Whalebone’s expanding business presence in Southeast Asia. The company already protects users of the Vietnamese mobile operator Vietnamobile, and the newly signed contract paves the way for further cooperation. The collaboration with Vietnamese partners aims to enhance the protection of millions of individuals and businesses through accessible and effective cybersecurity services. The signing of the document at the Czech-Vietnamese Business Forum demonstrated mutual interest in long-term, strategic cooperation.
“Working with the government delegation ensured a high level of reception and openness from our Vietnamese partners. We see the established partnerships as an important step in Whalebone’s continued international growth. There is strong potential in Czech-Vietnamese cooperation in cybersecurity, and we believe we can jointly protect the digital lives of tens of millions of people,” said Richard Malovic, CEO of Whalebone.
“Cybersecurity is one of the fields in which Czech companies have long proven they can offer value beyond the European market. Whalebone’s success in Vietnam confirms that state business missions generate tangible results – they help forge strategic partnerships that would otherwise be more difficult to establish. The combination of innovation, expertise, and state support is exactly what opens doors for Czech companies in demanding foreign markets,” said Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.
Delivering Secure Connectivity via Regional Partnerships
During the forum, Whalebone presented a case study focused on international cooperation in cybersecurity and its tangible impact on telecommunications users in Vietnam.
The contract is part of Whalebone’s broader expansion strategy, which aims to deliver secure internet connectivity to new regions through partnerships with local communication service providers.
